IWG Announces In-Flight Drain STC Kit for the BBJ

04:00 EDT Tuesday, October 20, 2009

BURNABY, BC, Oct. 20 /CNW/ - International Water-Guard has developed an In-Flight Drain System (IFDS(TM)) as a retrofit package with STC for the Boeing Business Jet, IWG President & CEO David C. Fox announced today.

"An operational concern with 737-derived VIP aircraft has been the inability to drain the aircraft water system in flight," he explained. "So in order to avoid a potentially damaging system freeze in cold weather, crews must stay with the aircraft to make sure it completely drains on the ground. Our solution is the installation of a new drain mast with associated water lines and controls that allow draining during the aircraft's descent. We are working now on a cost effective STC kit that will be available by the third quarter of 2010 for installation by any qualified completion or service center."

Fox pointed out that several similar one-off installations have been approved in the past, but none like the IWG system, which is a standard package available to everyone.

"The IFDS represents a continuation of IWG's initiatives in the enhancement of aircraft water systems, and in particular builds on experience gained through the design and installation of our Circulating Potable Water System (C-PWS(TM))on Boeing Business Jets," Fox said.
