TSX:V - POH

EDMONTON , April 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Ever-increasing demand for organic foods has prompted the third major expansion of Planet Organic's flagship store in Edmonton , Alberta.

The store started out at 4,000 sq. ft., doubled to 8,000 sq. ft., morphed into its current footprint of 10,400 sq. ft. in 2005, and will now undergo a massive renovation to bring it up to 21,290 sq. ft., plus 3,300 sq. ft. of offices on a second floor above the store.

Mark Craft , President of Planet Organic Market, a division of Planet Organic Health Corp. (POH), says the expansion will be completed by this summer.

It's the little store that could, says Mr. Craft , given the fact it spawned a cross-continent corporation that now employs over 650 and has projected annual revenues this year of over $100 million .

Mr Craft and Diane Shaskin opened what was destined to be Planet's flagship store in 1993. It was their store design and presentation that inspired Darren Krissie , now VP of Corporate Development and CFO of Planet, to join forces with them to start POH.

"There are so many memories in this store," Mr. Krissie says, adding "It was the beginning of our vision, and also the first place I tasted Planet's famous chocolate-chip banana bread."
