VANCOUVER , March 16 /CNW/ - One of the largest fruit and vegetable wholesalers in the United States will be installing energy-saving technology from Smartcool Systems Inc. and managed by EcoCurrents LLC, in all of its distribution and ripening warehouses after achieving an energy savings of over 20% in its headquarter facility.

Jimmy Alvarez , president of Olympic Fruit & Vegetable labeling the results as 'impressive', has committed to installing the "ESM" at its other operational facilities in Los Angles, San Diego , San Francisco , Texas and Florida.

"In addition to these significant energy savings, we have also realized the important environmental benefits," said Alvarez, noting that the greenhouse gas reduction, from this one installation alone, had resulted in a reduction of 250,000 lbs- the equivalent of planting 25 acres of trees. "
